The words this house uses, and what they mean
Sixteen short entries, each one a word that turns up in a booking thread or on a landing. None of them is jargon for its own sake; each is defined the way it is actually used here, with the figures and the rules attached where they belong.
-
Outcall
Outcall is the only arrangement here: the therapist travels to the room you already hold, and no visitor is ever given an address to come to.
-
Arrival window
The arrival window is the forty to sixty minutes that run from the hour being agreed in writing to the knock, and it holds across central Amsterdam.
-
Booking thread
The booking thread is the written conversation that fixes an address, an hour, a length and a figure, and those four things are the whole of what it settles.
-
Deposit
A deposit here is not money parked somewhere and given back; it is the first half of the fee itself, sent after the hour is agreed and before she leaves.
-
Balance at the door
The balance is the second half of the figure, handed over when she arrives, before the session starts and never in pieces along the way.
-
Cancellation and refunds
Cancelling never leaves a guest owing damages here; the only thing that decides what stays with the house is how much notice the message carries.
-
False bookings
A false booking is one made under somebody else's name or number, or sent as a prank, and it is a different thing entirely from a missed appointment.
-
Overnight
An overnight is one fixed block of eight hours rather than an open-ended stay, booked as a single figure and always confirmed with half of it in advance.
-
Twenty-one or over
Everyone who books here, and everyone who will be in the room, is twenty-one or over, and a photo document may be looked at once when she arrives.
-
The four facts
The four facts are the address, the hour, the length and the figure, and a message that carries all four is usually answered in a single reply.
-
Her limits
Your therapist decides what a session includes, says where her limits sit before it starts, and those limits hold for the whole of the visit.
-
A declined request
A booking can be declined by the house or by a therapist, at any point and without a reason being owed, and the right response is a short thank you.
-
Peak date
A peak date is a day when the city fills up, and the only thing it changes here is that a deposit is asked for whatever else is true of the booking.
-
Rate ladder
The rate ladder is the set of figures printed inside every profile, covering one guest or a couple, with one therapist or with two, at each length.
-
Near me
A search for something near you assumes a place to walk to, and here there is none; what is near you is the door of the room you are already in.
-
Same-day booking
A same-day booking is arranged exactly like any other, with the deposit rules decided by who is asking and by where the room is rather than by the hour.
